Yesterday in the AM I went with my dad and brother to one of my dad’s friend’s offices. In the back of the office is a substantial amount of garage space where they keep a substantial amount of cars.
The first cars I got to ride along in was this, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427. I believe it had the 400 horsepower L68 engine option, but I’m not sure. I do know it had a four speed manual, and the owner told us that axle option was one of the ones meant for 1/4 mile racing, making it a terrible highway car. Either way, there are few things cooler than looking down that massive hood, and watching it suddenly buck up towards the heavens with a massive roar. There’s plenty of speed, but it’s the style and the voice coming out of those side pipes that gets you most of all. The C2 has always been my favorite Corvette by a massive margin, and this only cements that feeling.
The second car I rode in was one of their daily drivers, a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG. I actually took a picture of this car earlier in the week for a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! comparison, having no idea it belonged to them. I had to chuckle when we pulled into their lot and saw the same car out front. As for the car itself, it’s plenty fast, and more than plenty loud:
The owner sort of half-complained to me that whenever she drives this car, other drivers will actually make a nuisance of themselves trying to pass or race her (hint: it doesn’t usually work). She then admitted that she usually takes the bait and won’t let them past, which isn’t hard to do in a car with this much motor. We didn’t bother with the wind deflector, so our conversation involved quite a lot of shouting.
As for the cars we that didn’t move while we were there, here they are.
This 968 had the apparently-rare 6 speed manual and around 30k miles on it. Above it and under a car cover was a 944 Turbo with 10k original miles.
All I know about this is that it’s a Ford woody with a flathead from around 1947.
Both the beginning an the end of the C1 Corvette.
A beautiful 1970 C3 Corvette. a mid-80's 911, and an all-original ‘66 Mustang 289 convertible.
In the back was a ‘78 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car Edition, an SSR. and a ‘65 GTO Convertible. Oh, and a 1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 convertible.
Not pictured: a white mid-80's 911 Targa and a Shelby-made 427 Cobra recreation. And an old 40's Ford Hotrod.

the only thing better than riding in a C2 427 coupe with side pipes is riding in a C2 427 roadster with side pipes!
that woody is a 46-48. 42's had a different grille in them and the gto convertible is a 65.
